This year's major release of Adobe Illustrator CC is packed with colorful innovations that we're excited to share with you. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, you'll find something exciting in this new version of Illustrator. Many of the features this year are powered by Adobe Sensei.

Freeform Gradients
Create natural and realistic gradients.

We previewed the new gradient type earlier this year, which allows you to create gradients with rich colors and organic blends like never before. In addition to linear and radial gradients, the new Freeform Gradients let you color your objects in a way that looks natural and realistic.

With Freeform Gradients, all you need to do is drop 'color points' onto your object. These color points then blend together to form rich and complex color mixes that were previously impossible. What's more, the user interface is simple and easy to use.

Global Edits
Make instant adjustments across your artboards.

If you have similar objects (like logos or icons) throughout your project, you can now easily change colors, edit shapes, and rotate your objects in just a few simple steps. Global editing allows you to select, find, and modify similar objects across your artboards. Unlike features like Symbols or Select Similar, Global Editing is more versatile. No setup is required, and you have more flexibility to make the changes you want.

Custom Toolbar
Organize your workspace the way you want.

Whatever you need to create, Illustrator has the right tools for you, with over 80 to choose from. We now offer a new way to organize, customize, and track all your most-used tools. With this update, we've grouped all the tools so you can quickly understand what each tool does at a glance. If you have a specific toolset you use frequently, you can now drag and drop to create a custom tool list. The workspace in Illustrator can now be tailored to your workflow.

Integration with Adobe Fonts
Access over 14,000 fonts for your projects.

With this release, you can look forward to a significantly improved experience for exploring and discovering the right font in Illustrator. With direct integration with Adobe Fonts, you now have access to over 14,000 fonts that come with your Creative Cloud membership directly within Illustrator CC. You can preview fonts in your design without activating them, and if you like what you find, it only takes one click to activate and license that font—all at no extra cost as part of your Creative Cloud membership.

Scalable Interface
Illustrator now detects your screen resolution and adjusts the display accordingly. This means there's an ideal default scaling for the interface based on your screen resolution. Even better, we've added the ability to adjust the range of your design workspace.

Real Size Preview
Illustrator CC will now automatically adapt the zoom level to your screen resolution to present artwork at actual size at 100% zoom. So, a business card presented at 100% on any screen will have the same dimensions as it will when printed.

External GPU Support
Illustrator can utilize external graphics processing units (GPUs) on Macintosh computers with Thunderbolt 3 running MacOS 10.13.14 and above.

Trim View
This new preview method displays artwork as it would be printed, preventing all non-printing objects on the artboard, such as grids and guides, from showing. All artwork that falls outside the artboard is hidden in this view. This new method gives you a great way to preview your final designs.

Presentation Mode
You can now use Illustrator to present your work live. In this new mode, each artboard becomes a slide. The application menus, panels, guides, and frame edges are hidden so your audience can focus on your designs without distractions from the application.

Performance Enhancements
This latest release includes a number of under-the-hood improvements, including over 30 fixes made based on user feedback from the Illustrator user Voice page.
