Brave is a standard web browser that allows users to visit websites, run web applications, and view or interact with online content. Like other browsers, it can be downloaded and used for free, remembers website login details, and can block online ads from appearing on sites.

Brave Software, the creator of the browser, is a relatively new player in the browser wars, having first introduced the browser in January 2016. The company was co-founded by Brendan Eich, the creator of JavaScript and a co-founder of Mozilla, after he left that browser vendor under pressure for supporting California's Proposition 8 in 2008, a ballot measure that banned same-sex marriage.

What sets Brave apart from other browsers?
What makes Brave unique is its strong anti-advertising stance. The browser is designed to strip online ads from websites, and its business model doesn't just rely on blocking ads but also on replacing the removed ads with ones from its own network. It's akin to a new TV network announcing it would use technology to remove ads from other networks' programs, then rebroadcast those programs with its own ads, which it sells.
